Traktor contacted us with an extraordinarily funny script about a guy, after he has won the lottery, decides to build a car track in his hometown, because he never managed to get his driver’s license. Of course this immediately caught our attention.
Pretty soon we understood that the challenge would be in translating the feeling of a real car track, in scale 1:1. How would the weight of the 1:1 model impact the movement and what actual speed did it need to have to feel like the toy equivalent?
VFX Supervisor Arvid Björn immediately started to R&D the movement and realized that it was going to be a bumpy ride at speeds about 300 – 400 km/h. Together with Traktor and King we developed and modeled the car, tracks and the electric engine before the shoot.
After the shoot and when we got all the material in place we knew that we had 5 weeks of love to make the finalized piece. And here we are, extremely satisfied and proud of our part of this fantastic spot!
This is a visual effects breakdown, shot for shot, of our latest project together with director Traktor for Svenska Spel’s latest Lotto commercial. We used Softimage for CG and Nuke for compositing, post production spanned about two months.
